Ananya Panday wins Spotlight Actor at Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2024

Actor Ananya Panday won the Spotlight Actor of the year at Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards 2024, which took place in Mumbai on Saturday, October 19. The actor, who looked glamorous in a black evening gown, was elated as she held the trophy. The 25-year-old took the opportunity to highlight the way the film industry treats women today.
In her winning speech, Ananya mentioned that the filmmakers and writers are finally identifying the real potential of women and giving them meaty roles to perform. She added that the award means a lot to her because she has been honoured for her performance this time.
“It’s a very special award because it’s for acting. This is the first time I have got a few of them. So, I am very grateful to everyone. Thank you so much. It feels special to me. And I am honestly just a product of the people I work with, the actors, the directors, the writers, the producers and all the other departments on the sets,” she said.
Ananya continued, “Finally, the writers and directors are seeing women for who they are and there’s a lot of space for women. I think we are making that space for ourselves. It’s a great time to be an actress. I am truly very grateful to everyone, and thank you very much for having me.”
The young Bollywood star debuted in the industry five years back with Karan Johar’s Student of The Year 2. Ananya has come a long way since then. This year, she proved her acting prowess by choosing interesting scripts and impressed the audience with her performances in the Netflix film CTRL, and Prime Video series Call Me Bae.
Apart from Ananya, actor Kriti Sanon also bagged a big honour at the award ceremony. She was felicitated with the Best Actor award at the event.
The Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards were based on a unique feature this year. The event aimed at creating a ‘chain of empowerment’ for women by letting every winner present the trophy to the winner of the next category.
