This cover honors the 10th anniversary of the landing of the Apollo 11 astronauts on the Moon. The cover was prepared by Rockwell International Space Systems Group with a cachet in bright red that depicts the surface of the Moon, the Earth, a Space Capsule and a Space Shuttle. Below the cachet is printed "Ten years ago, we went to the moon. Now, we-re making a better world".
Inside the cover is a two-sided card that describes the Apollo 11 mission and Rockwell International's part in helping the mission become a success. On the reverse of the card is the "Apollo Log" which describes each mission from Apollo 7 through Apollo 17.
The U.S. postage in the upper right of the cover is the 15 cent Ft. McHenry stamp. The cancellation is "Downey, California "DOWNEY - HOME OF THE SPACESHIPS COLUMBIA 1969-1979" on July 20, 1979, the tenth anniversary of Man's First Landing on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission.
